Most of my life has been flooded with negativity. I was raised by strong women who loved me but were extremely tough on me. I worked with women who pressured me so fiercely to lead from a place of fear, in a world where women competed for one spot at the top. As a result, I continually talked down to myself in every aspect of my life. 

I felt lost.
I felt small.
I felt frustrated.

I knew that there needed to be a major change in my life to turn it around. I decided that if I had a positive thought, I would say it out loud. 

So any positive thought I had, I said it. Plain and simple. I complimented the barista about her great smile, I complimented my cousin about her bravery.  I complimented my self on my journey. 

My life changed. 

As I flooded the world around me with compliments and positivity; I realized that women didn’t quite know how to respond. It was so foreign to them. They were always surprised or taken back by the positive comment. I saw their demeanor change. I saw them sit a little straighter in their chair. I began to enter rooms more confidently and compliment more freely. 

I knew that when women felt like they were seen, that they were able to accomplish more. 

I realized that I was put here to break the cycle. To break through the negativity. To break through to women going through what I had experienced my whole life and give them permission to live differently. 

The New Blak changed my life. 

The New Blak has already changed over 4,000 women’s lives.

The New Blak Society will change even more. 

I hear your stories of working within male-dominated organizations, of working under a leader that struggles to mentor you, of the organizations that forget to take the female perspective into account when making decisions.
